Los Angeles

We decided to spend our first Christmas vacation together in Los Angeles, USA. Since I was based in Phoenix, Abhi flew to Phoenix from Richmond, VA. The trip was planned for 4 days along with our friends Pushpa and Nehal. The plan was to visit the following attractions.
1) Universal Studio, LA

2) Disney Land, LA
3) Hollywood Street
4) The LA Beach (Famous for Bay watch shooting)

Shenandoah National Park

After reaching Richmond, USA on H4 visa, I was really tired of visiting the Indian Desi Birthday parties. On one weekend, we decided to visit Shenandoah National Park. The best time to visit Shenandoah National Park is during Fall time, to enjoy fall colors. We had already dicided to leave USA and move to UK. So planned small visit to Luray Caverns and Shenandoah National Park during weekend. Since it was too late for us to leave the home and reach the Caverns. We just had small ride throught the National Park. We were lucky enough to enjoy some lush greenry and couple of wild animals on our way through the park.

Williamsburg, VA

Williamsburg in Virginia, is one of the oldest Colonial township in USA. I got a chance to visit this township during Thanks Giving Holidays along with Abhis Sister and her family. The place marks begining of colonization in USA and hence forms an intergral part of USA's History. The government has still preserved the old colonies and habitat. One can find people dressed up in colonial outfits at some of the tourist points inside the park. It forms a major historic tourist attraction for people around East coast of USA. Luray Caverns

Luray Caverns visit was my first weekend trip outside Richmond with Abhi after marriage. The Luray caverns are huge caves underneath the ground level. The caves have many speleothems - columns of limestones and mud flows. I moved to Richmond, VA, in June 2006 on H4 Dependent Visa. And had visited many Desi (Indian) homes and Desi kids birthday parties. I was completely lost in the new world and wanted a break from all this. So was the visit to Luray Caverns planned on Weekend.
The drizzling water in the caves left behind the limestone and mineral deposits on the cave walls. These deposit over a period of time formed huge columns of various sizes and structure over period of time.
One needs to buy entrance tickets at the office. There are guided tours available. But we did not opt for one.
