- Provide personal contact names and telephone numbers, including next of kin to company personnel department where you are going to be transfered if any.
- Photocopy all key documents:
- birth certificates
- marriage certificate/s
- stocks and shares
- deeds
- customs documentation
- Inform friends and business colleagues of your new address if known or the new employers head office address. This might be required in case of emergency.
- Tell your telephone company exactly when you want your telephone disconnected (if appropriate). Arrange to have the bill forwarded to your new address
- Contact all utility companies such as gas, electricity and water to discuss arrangements for providing final meter readings
- Cancel items you have on a rental agreement. Check the terms and conditions to see if there are penalties for terminating the agreement – TV / satellite equipment etc)
- Back up your computer files before your computer equipment is packed
- Check if your destination has different electicity voltage. If yes then check the electric gadgets which need voltage adapters.
- Also different countries have different electric plugs or inputs. See to it that you get a universal plug kit or the one required for your destination.
- Notify relocation agent whether or not you require hotel accommodation for your final few days prior to departure and your room requirements
